Fuse box upgraded to a modern RCBO board
Old rewireable board out, full RCBO protection in, everything labelled and certified.
About this service →Electrician covering Thornbury, Alveston and Olveston. EICRs, fault finding and upgrades for older stock and new estates alike.
Thornbury sits about thirty-five minutes from my Hanham base, up the A38, at the comfortable edge of my everyday patch: routine work books normally, small jobs batch onto Thornbury runs, and the quote carries the same no-surprises rules as everywhere else.

About this service →
Lighting positions planned with the customer before a single cable went in the trench.
About this service →
Two C2s found at a landlord inspection; both remedied and a satisfactory report issued five days later.
About this service →Electrically, Thornbury is two different customers. The old market town, the High Street and the streets around it, carries genuinely old stock: cottages and townhouses with the classic period findings, dated boards, tired circuits, earthing arrangements worth checking before anything else is planned, where EICRs and fault finding do the real work. Then there are the new estates that have grown around the town, where the electrics are young, certified and mostly fine, and the work is the opposite kind: snagging that the developer's aftercare didn't catch, and the extras new-build owners actually want, additional sockets where the show-home layout guessed wrong, outdoor sockets and garden power, and smoke alarm additions where lofts and garages get converted. Knowing which Thornbury you're in changes the first question I ask, and the villages, Alveston, Olveston, Tockington, lean strongly toward the older kind.
EICRs for the old-town stock and rentals · fault finding where age tells · consumer unit upgrades · smoke and heat alarms, both period retrofits and new-build additions.
Yes: Alveston, Olveston, Tockington and the lanes between are all in range, usually paired with Thornbury bookings, which the scheduling reflects in the price.
Not for years: a new house comes with its Electrical Installation Certificate, and the first EICR is typically due around the ten-year mark for owner-occupiers, or five if it's rented. What new-builds actually need is the snagging-and-extras list above, which is cheerfully unglamorous work I'm happy to have.
Around thirty-five minutes travelling, and routine work usually books within days, batched with other jobs up the A38.

Everything below is available here on the same terms as everywhere else I work: a written price before any work starts, and the person who quotes it does it.
For homeowners, landlords and house buyers.

→Inside and out, planned before anything is cut.
→More sockets, better placed, and outdoor power too.
→Mains-wired and interlinked, right for rentals.
→A proper armoured supply, not an extension lead.

My reviews live on Which? Trusted Traders, where every review is checked to confirm it came from a genuine customer. A few, in their own words:
Tony is reliable, professional, and delivers exactly what he says he will. The only thing that was different between the quote and invoice was the price; he automatically submitted a smaller invoice as I am guessing the job was easier than expected.Customer in South Gloucestershire, via Which? Tony was really helpful, friendly and a professional service. Explained everything in a way I could understand. Left everything clean and tidy and a fantastic job done, at a great price.Customer in Bath and North East Somerset, via Which? Trusted Traders, July 2026
Tony checked our electrics, which unfortunately turned out to be well past their sell by date, requiring a full rewiring of the house whilst we lived in the house! […] Communication and advice was great, and would recommend him highly.Customer in South Gloucestershire, via Which? Trusted Traders, March 2025
