About this service →Electrician for Yate and Chipping Sodbury. Consumer unit upgrades and rewires for the town's 60s and 70s estates. Call or send photos for a quote.
Yate is about twenty-five minutes from my base in Hanham, up through Emersons Green, and it's a town I like quoting for a blunt reason: its housing is honest about what it needs. No travel premium, same minimum-visit rule as everywhere, stated in the quote.
Old rewireable board out, full RCBO protection in, everything labelled and certified.
About this service →
Lighting positions planned with the customer before a single cable went in the trench.
About this service →
Two C2s found at a landlord inspection; both remedied and a satisfactory report issued five days later.
About this service →Yate grew fast through the 1960s and 70s, and that shows up electrically as a whole town's worth of installations hitting the same milestones together: original consumer units with rewireable fuses or first-generation breakers and no RCD protection, original wiring now past its fiftieth birthday, and the era's signature shortcuts, lighting circuits without earths, sockets fed optimistically, surfacing on EICRs street after street. None of this is a crisis, most of these houses test better than their age suggests, but it makes two jobs the local staples: the consumer unit upgrade, which single-handedly modernises the protection on an otherwise sound installation, and the rewire, full or partial, where the cables themselves have aged out. The good news built into the same era: generous driveways and accessible construction make Yate one of the easiest places in the region to work.
Consumer unit upgrades · house rewiring · EICRs for sales, remortgages and rentals · garden offices and sheds for the gardens the 1970s thoughtfully provided.
Yes, Yate and Chipping Sodbury run together for me as they do on the map, and the villages just beyond, Wickwar, Rangeworthy, Coalpit Heath, are all quotable; the postcode box settles it in one reply.
About twenty-five minutes on a normal day, so Yate books like anywhere else in my patch.
Yes, that's the house style: board photo, the rooms in question, and a floor-plan sketch gets most Yate jobs priced by reply, with the era's standard layouts making photo-quoting unusually accurate here.

Everything below is available here on the same terms as everywhere else I work: a written price before any work starts, and the person who quotes it does it.

My reviews live on Which? Trusted Traders, where every review is checked to confirm it came from a genuine customer. A few, in their own words:
Tony is reliable, professional, and delivers exactly what he says he will. The only thing that was different between the quote and invoice was the price; he automatically submitted a smaller invoice as I am guessing the job was easier than expected.Customer in South Gloucestershire, via Which? Tony was really helpful, friendly and a professional service. Explained everything in a way I could understand. Left everything clean and tidy and a fantastic job done, at a great price.Customer in Bath and North East Somerset, via Which? Trusted Traders, July 2026
Tony checked our electrics, which unfortunately turned out to be well past their sell by date, requiring a full rewiring of the house whilst we lived in the house! […] Communication and advice was great, and would recommend him highly.Customer in South Gloucestershire, via Which? Trusted Traders, March 2025
